yesterday. There was some Immoderate bid
ding up of the hard coal shares. Canadian
Pacific and secondary specialties with re
cessions, recoveries and dullness. Th
movement represented operations of the pro
fessional element and thers wss evidence
of Inside liquidation, especially In the lead
ing speculative stocks.
The opening saw the usual decided gains,
Lehigh Valley. American Sugar. Interna
tional Paper preferred and lnterborough
Metropolltaa preferred rising a point with
virtually no decline. Nearly all thes ad
vances wer obliterated, but soon after mid
day another buying movement In Lehigh
Valley and Reading restored much of the
early losses and added to th gains by the
obscure specialties, while Canadian Pacific

the stock, together with manipulative tac
tics, were assumed to be back of the rise,
