The first holiday that'Otto Schumann, of this city, has takn for SO years begins this morning. After such a long time of toll nothing less than a year's absence from the scene of his labors will be sufficient for him. Mr. Schumann intends to travel in Europe and Great Britain, not follow ing the well-trodden paths of the aver age globetrotter, but lingering here or there aa fancy dictates. Mayor Rushlight probably will save the city J600 on the wrecking of the old City Jail building at Second and Oak streets, which has been aban doned, owinK to the fact that the mu nicipality is going to build a new building. When bids for the wrecking of the old structure were opened, two weeks aco, there was but one, and that for $2090. The Mayor refused to sanction awarding tha contract and asked that new bids be soucrht. This was done, and yesterday afternoon they were opened.
