AN excellent singing act waa that furnished yesterday at Pantages, when the Tlvoll Quartet gave selections from grand opera afid a aerie of popu lar alra These four young men have pleased Portland audiences before, and received a cordial welcome at their opening performance yesterday. Indi vidually and collectively their offer ings are pleasing. Barney Fagan and Henrietta Nyron gave a full meaauro of entertainment with their song and patter. Fagan make a homa run with a recitation about a down-and-out baseball player who gets a chance to play In a de cisive game and wins. Fagan give It the proper dramatlo touch. He and Mia Byron ar"e also successful with a humorous racetrack piece. Their principal number Is "Tha Songs of Three Nation," Miss Byron appearing a Britain, Ireland and Columbia. Carter and Bluford, as Cuban Novelty Artists, give a series of characteristic dances with appropriate backgrounds. Miss Bluford Is pretty and a good dancer. Her Spanish dance Is the best act she does, though her Indian and cowboy dance with Mr. Carter Is spir ited and picturesque. Carter gives an amusing hoe-down. May Clinton does some am axing feat In a sharpshootlng act. Palmer and Lewis give a song and dance act with a burlesque of classic tragedy. Miss Lewis also gave two fancy dances that were on a higher plan than th rest of tb act. The programme closed with the an tic of Dynamite, a bucking mule, owned by Happy Harrison.
