SALEM, Or., May 9. (Special.) Trier,
for both green and-dried prunes this year
will be th. greatest In th. history of th,
prune Industry. I think thtf. Is little doubt
of it now." This statement was mad. today
by C L. Dirk, manager of the Salem Fruit
I'nlon. As Mr. Dick practically Inaugurated
th. green prune business In Salem and th.
Wlliamett. Valley thl, statement -carries
considerable weight.
K. t. McKeany. of Medford. Korthwest
representativs of th. Producers' Fruit As
sociation, of Medford. was her. today Inter
viewing Mr. Dick and mad. an offer for 200
cars of green prune, which Mr. Dick de
clare, la fh. largt that haa even bn a
tended In th. history of th. Industry.
"wrat prico was offered 1 am unwilling
to say." statd Mr. Dick. "Th, best prlco
which w. hav. ever reeefvejo In tho past
was 03 cents a bushel In iww and It Is suf-
ncirni to say that th. offer mad, now Is
considered very much better.
As far as dried prunes ar. concerned I
do not wish to mak. any definite statement
la this connection aa our principal dealings
ar. In green prunes, but I know that right
now th. prices for rnu and dried prunes
ar. better than they hav. ever been befor,
ndthey will go considerably higher."
From statements mad, by other dealers
ther. ia .vary Indication that th. Orvgon
prune this year will bo In th. height ot Its
glory aa for as price, ar. concerned. As to
the crop It Is still difficult to mak. any
statement, according to th. leading prune
men. but ther. seems to b. small doubt
that th. crop will be excellent.
