Dealers Say Not Only Will rroflt Be) More for Them, But Consumers Will Benefit. Believing that the establishment of a co-operative distributing station In Port land will prove of greater benefit to dairymen shipping milk to Portland than th present arrangement of disposing of th product to creameries, a meeting of dairymen has been called for Thursday, April 27, In the Grange hall at Gresliam. when steps will b taken to form such an organisation. The movement Is th result of dis satisfaction with th terms offered by the creameries In th Gresham dlstrlct C. B. Frits, of Gresham, who Is Identi fied with th propossd scheme, said yes terday that It was th conviction of dairymen there that some means must be found to market their product with mora profit. We felt' that w were not getting fair treatment from the creameries," said Mr. Frits. "Th expens to the dairy men is steadily Increasing. Labor is higher, feed Is higher, and land is rap Idly increasing in value, and areas suit able for dairy purposes are becoming more and more restricted. Th price of milk has raised, of course, but at noth- i in,. . v. i whlph thu PinPn ms uAo ins - hav grown. We believe that the estab lishment of a co-operative distributing station in Portland will givo a bigger profit besides affording a more con venient method of distributing. "W. also think this will have a ten dency to lower th prica of milk to the consumer. If we succeed In perfecting our organization one of the first things to ba undertaken will be a system of distributing. The city will be districted and th present method by which cus tomers at long distances are unsatisfac torily served will be eliminated."
