grants' frelgrht from the East have
passed over the Spokane. Portland & Se
attle Railroad in the last few days.
The freight Is consigned to the end of
the Oregon Trunk Railroad and from
there will be hauled to its destination by
wagon.
Many colonists are passing through
ancouver and a number are visiting
farms In Clark County. At Lannersbnrg,
the Swedish colony established on Bell's
Mountain, preparations have been made
to receive from 50 to 100 families this
season. The colony promoters have re
ceived letters of inquiry from more than
2500 Interested persons desirous of coming
to this country, and la per cent of this
number will visit Clark County this
Spring. A townslte has already been
laid out and AO families are living there
now. They axe doing much free work
on the county roads, making them pas
sable to and from Vancouver.

Hirechel Landreth, 1-year-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. H. S. Landreth of thta city,
was burned severely by carbolic acid
Tuesday evening. Mrs. Landreth knocked
the bottle from the. shelf accidentally
and the acid spilled on the child's face.
One eye was badly burned and It is
thought the jsight of the eye is destroyed.
