KLAMATH WAITS PATIENTLY
Hatchery Bill May Carry $1000, if
Not $10,000 as Hoped.
KLAMATH FALLS. Or.. Feb. 15.
(Special.) Further details of the
Spring Creek hatchery bill, which
passed the Senate, have been received.
This bill was Introduced by Senator
Merryman, asking- for $10,000 for a
trout hatchery In Klamath County and
the Klamath Senator made a strong
ftRht for its passage, but the Senate
ways and means committee cut the
amount down to $4000. Word now
comes from Salem that Merryman will
make an attempt to get the amount
raised in the ways and means commit
tee of the House back to his original
request and get it through in that man
ner. The local people, naturally, are Jubi
lant over tha fact that there seems to
be a chance to get a bill through at all
for a hatchery for thig county and were
willing to accept the $4000 with open
arms and a hurrah for Senator Merry
man and Representative Thompson if
tha latter could work it through the
House even at that figure, but they
also felt that this $4000 would not go
very far toward building and equip
ping a hatchery.
