Its first catch today, and after an ex
citing struggle off the local harbor
front, killed a JS-foot California gray
whale.
The leviathan was sighted off the
San Fedro breakwater and led tha
Camlguln a chase of several mllea be
fore the crew could put a shot Into It.
The explosion of the bomb drove the
whale Into a furloua torment, fila
struggle Imperiling the live of tha
five men In the crew and two mora
hot were exploded In him before he
succumbed and lay quiet on the ware.
A large number of email rraft loaded
with sightseers took part In the chase
and witnessed the killing.
