A Great Railroad
The North BanK Road between Portland and SpoKane was con
structed under the most rigid twentieth-century engineering ex
actions. - '
The adherence to easy curvature and practically water grade,
the use of massive bridge structure, the laying' of heavy rail on a rocK
bed, gave it the best tracK in the West.
This foundation, with powerful modern locomotives, means ease
in train movement, and comfort to the traveler.
This same high standard of construction is being maintained on
the affiliated lines now being built in Oregon The Oregon TrunK
Railway to the vast agricultural, timber and grazing' sections of
Central Oregon, from ClarKe on the Columbia River south along the
Deschutes River to Madras, Redmond, Bend and Southern Oregon,
which will reach Bend May first or earlier; The United Railways al
ready reaching the fertile farm sections of the Tualatin Valley at
North Plains on its way to the timber and dairy districts of the Tilla
mooK country; and The Pacific Q Eastern Railway from Medford in
the famed Rogue River Valley through the forests to Butte Falls on
its climb of the Cascade Range to join the Oregon TrunK Railway in
Southern Oreg'on.
Extensions of The Oregon Electric Railway are definitely planned
through the rich Willamette Valley from Salem to Albany and
Eugene, and from the main line to McMinnville. -
This great programme for the upbuilding of Oregon means the
bringing' of thousands of population to its undeveloped sections, and
the carrying of its products to the world-marKets by The North BanK
Road and its affiliated lines.
