Tne first baby beef ever msrketed ber

Thla was a new venture and was in th
lln. of an experiment to datttrmln. whether
the feeding of such beef would prov. prof

th prices entirely satisfactory, but h. baa
proved conclusively that thla market tn th.
near future can tak. car of any quantity
at price, profitable to feeder and raiser. B.
has an advantag In thla respect aa hta lln
of bualness la th breeding of pur. bred
stock.
Unusual Interest was displayed In th
aal. Tom Benson, of th Benson Commis
sion Company, who had th distinction of
selling thla ear of beef. doe. not hesltata
to say It waa th finest load of cattle ha
ever saw or sold.
Such products aa thla will go further to
stimulate tne Portland market than any
thing that can b don by feeders or raisers
of cattla. afr. Barnum deserves great credit
tn taking th Initiative In producing and
putting on th. open market such cattl and
It la to be hoped that all feeders and rnls

endeavor to help along th good cause.
Mr. Barnum would b pleased to glv an
Informattnn desired to stockmen Interested.
If they will writ to him at his horn, ad

Th. market In other respects showed no
new feature yesterday. Tber. waa a mod
