rents. Grapes were In heavy supply and
easy.
Trade dragged in tbe dairy produce mar
ket today. Poultry re-etpta were a little
larger, but stocks did not accumulate.
Fresh eggs sold at 40 cents and there were
unconfirmed rumors of sales at 41 cents.
The supply of cheap atate cream err DUt
ter le rather large, but fancy stock la scarce.
Prices were unchanged.
Ten thousand tons of alfalfa haa been
norvHased f-r delivery on Pug-ei Sound next
month. Alfslfa sohi at ld on tra-k here
olae and timothy at lis. Wheat was
steady and unchanned.

activity yesterday than on the first day
of the week, but the arrivals were email.
Most of the sales were la the mutton line.
Ewes brought 13.50; lamba $3 and $3 50,
and a lot of mixed sheep and lambs went

General conditions in tbe trade were
aammarlaed by the Uveatock Reporter aa
follows:
The deluge of range cattle waa tempor
arily checked the latter part ot tne weex,
and but few shloments arrived. The long,
severe drouth sot in Its disastrous work
all over the West and the quality of the
cattle for the early Kail run of rangera
was far below the average. Steera bare
lost a full dollar durlne tne slump, ana
rows almost the aame amount. Buyers have
been loaded with cattle for two weeka, and
the let-un will sire them a breathing spell.
Cows were not In the usual good demand
last week, but quality at band waa the
principal reason for the quarter drop In
the market. Bulls were also a ahade
weaker and $3.7& la considered the top of
the market. Little can be said about the
real market eaoept that It was steady to
firm at formr prices, with tne exception
