cial.) The old Government works at
the lower end of Coos Bay near the bar
are being torn down and the machinery
will be moved to Celilo. These works
were put up years ago when the 3etty
was being built. The buildings and
railroad tracks have been allowed to
decay, but the machinery is still in
good condition. It is to be towed out
on a barge . .

THREE SUSPECTS
Sheriff Captures Men Thought to Be
Professional Pickpockets.
Tommy and Jimmie Meehan and Den
ny Watson, said by Sheriff Stevens to
be professional pickpockets, were ar
rested about 6:30 o'clock last night,
and lodged in the County Jail while
they were working the O. W. P. trans
fer cars. Deputies Leonard, Beatty.
Wood, Hunter and Bulger effected the
capture. Watson is a man about 30
years old, while Jimmy and Tommy
Meehan are 35 and 38 years old re
spectively. The photographs of the

known to be false, as they were seen
by Sheriff Stevens and Deputy Leonard
on the O. W. P. transfer cars Monday
night. Seeing that a capture at that
time was impossible, the Sheriff ar
ranged with his deputies to make the
capture last night.
The three suspects were noticed by
Deputy Leonard standing on the rear
platform of one of the O. W. P. cars
last night, but before he and the other
deputies could get close enough to

More Gold Come From Alaska.
SEATTLE, Wash., June 28. The sec
ond shipment of gold from the Tanana
district this year was received on the
steamer Dolphin, which arrived from
Southeastern Alaska ports during the
night. The Dolphin's treasure amounted
to $837,000 and was shipped from Fair
banks via the Tukon River and the
White Pass route to Skagway, where it
was transferred to the steamship.
