Boats at Upper Lake- Right-of-Way
Is Completed.
KLAMATH FALLS. Or.. June 10. (Spe
cial.) The flrat big shipment of equip
ment for the contractors to be used in
the construction of the Oregon Trunk
Railroad In the north end of this county
has Just arrived here.
This equipment consists of 40 carloads
of teams, wagons, scrapers, camp equip
ment and other things necessary for be
ginning: work on the 40-mile contract
which has been sub-let to C. J. Young
by the Henry Contracting Company, of
Seattle. The material will be unloaded at
the Upper Lake, to which point the
Southern Pacific track Is completed and
from there will be taken on boats to the
Klamath Agency landing, 30 miles from
here. There the wagons and teams of the
outfit will be used for transporting the
other material to the scene of action. -
The contract for the work on this part
of the Hill line has been let to the north,
ern line of the Klamath Indian reserva
tion, about 75 miles from here. All of
the right of way has been secured and
the deeds have been filed here and the
equipment being brought in now is to be
used on this stretch, which will complete
the road from the reservation line into
Lake County.
The survey is completed to near the
north end of the Upper Klamath Lake
from the Shaniko end of the Oregon
Trunk, and crews are working further
round the west side of the lake, which
would indicate that this road is to go
down the west side of the Klamath Kiver
and is headed for tidewater at Eureka,
Cal. If it does, the depot for this city
will be located on the west bank of the
Link River, in the extreme western end of
the city.
