beaten by Mrs. Elizabeth Day, super
intendent of t'acino Hospital, while she
was a. patient In that institution. Mrs.
Harriet A. Stockey. 7S years oM. today
swore out a warrant for the arrest of
Mrs. Pay on a charge of assault in the
third dearee.
Mi's. Stockey said she had been a pa
tient at the Pacific Hospital two weeks.
Last Monday, feeling extremely ill. she
rang the bell for a nurse, intending to
have her rail the doctor. No response
being made to her first ring, she con
tinued to caJl. f
" Kinally, she said. Mrs. Dav entered
V the room, snatched the bell from her
" hand, and told her to remain quiet.
-Then when they went out of the
room, I threw the bell at the door and

STORM WRECKS AEROPLANE

PLAIT, Germany, April 14. Major von
Parsaral's new aeroplane, the largest
yet constructed. which eaxly this
month underwent successful prelimi
nary trials here, was caught in a vio
lent wind while flying over Lake Plau
today, and, turning turtle, fell into the
waters.
Engineers Blochmann and Hoff es
caped uninjured. They dropped with
.the machine but succeeded in freeing
themselves from the wreckage and were
picked up by a passing craft.
Major von Parsevals invention is a
monoplane with a four-cylinder motor
of 120 horsepower. It carries 170
pounds of petroleum, and was expected
to remain in the air three hours. The
breadth of the plane is 45 H feet and
the length of the machine is 45 feet.

for descending' on water and wiHi
wheels for a descent on land
Aeronaut Falls. May Die.
BERLIN, April 14. Aeronaut Loreni
became entangled in the guide ropes of
the military dirigible balloon M-4 as It
was leaving the ground today, and was
carried high above the field, whero ha
clung for a moment, and then fell. H
was probably fatally injured. The ac
cident occurred on Tegal Field and was
witnessed by 300 members of the Prus

Phonograph to Aid: Patsiora Play.
SOUTH NORWALK, Conn., April 14.
The scenes of the passion play at Ober
ammergau will be embellished and
made more realistic this year with the
help of mammoth phonographic records
which have been prepared here this
w inter by Professor Herman Schulze,
of Newark. In a shack on the outer
most point of Nauvoo Island, a bleak
spot in Long Island Sound, where the
waves pound terribly on a rockv beach,
the professor has lived during the Win
ter, and when the storms were raging
has been securing records to be used
in the play. The records were taken
on a special machine, the largest ever
constructed.
Detective Inearth Murder Plan.
CHICAGO, April 14. "I promise to- pay
you $30 for medicine that will kill my
husband. I will not pay you the money
If It kills him right 'away. I don't want
him to die now. I'm afraid." Posing as
a physician. Detective Joseph Vana
claims to have obtained the foregoing
from Mrs. Mary Kaprina, of Melrose
Park. The woman was arrested and, ac
cording to the police, confessed today that
ehe had entered Into a plot to-, be rid of
her husband, a steelworker, in order that
she might marry Frank Demovitoh, a
young man boarding at her home.
