pealed from the court's decision, and
was given his liberty on furnishing bail
in the sum of $1500. He was arrested
recently on a more serious charge pre

as a climax, is the romance of a pretty
stenographer who until last Sunday was
Mrs. Ruby B. MeConnell, employed
in the office of George Shepherd, attor

William S. J. 'Maxneld, a capitalist, of

of Thomas Crawford, of the faculty of
the Oregon Agricultural College. She
received her education at Stanford Uni

The Empire state capitalist was at

states, Mr. McNulty Induced him to re
main over the next day.
Monday Mr. Maxfield, accompanied by
Mr. McNulty, went to Attorney Shep

the lawyer's pretty stenographer.

off his departure from day to day, until
last Saturday. Then Mr. Crawford came
from Corvallis to visit his daughter and

Acres
is one of the finest tracts of
acreage ever- offered Portland
buyers, the subdivisions1 being
from five acres up. This land
is on the Base Line road, is in
the heart of one of the finest
fruit belts in Oregon, and is
the most sightly location sur
rounding Portland. For many
years this property has re
mained in one ownership un
improved, while some of the
most beautiful farms In the
state are Immediately adja
cent. The soil is of the very
best in the valley, and for
orchard or small fruits it Is
unequaled. But we want to
make quick disposal of this
tract, which' we call Banner
Acres, and to that end we
have placed it at tha low fig
ure of $85 per acre, and on
easy terms. There is no such
an acreage buy now on the
Portland market, and the pur
chasers are sure to make large
and quick profits. For Sum
mer homes, for small farms,
for sightly residence sites,
Banner Acres is She cream of
acreage offerings. Any pur
chaser can make a sure, quick
profit by clearing a tract and
setting it to fruit. We call the
attention of real estate dealers
to these lands. We want to
dispose of It quick and there
are buyers who would be glad
to take It if it is but brought
to their attention.
