.'MR. COX WRITES A LETTER
His Opinion of an Oregon Senator
Expressed in Caustic Language.
PORTLAND. Oct. IB. To Senator Bourns
.and tn people of Oregon: Our distinguished
Senator. Jonatoan Bourne, Jr.. having failed
as a statesman, seems to be trying to excel
as a blackguard. In his letter published In
the Oregon Journal of October 19, this freak
of nature. Imagines with a vainglorious air,
that he has some particular grievance
cainst his constituents because, he says,
"on his return to his borne In Portland, he
found a gang of political highbinders and
!r1nsters engaged In a conspiracy to over
throw popular government and establish In
lit place political debauchery and a Tweed
machine, with crooks at the helm of state,
.with a design to enslave In political vas
salage the cltiiens of Oregon." According to
Jonathan, the machine operators and their
misguided followers are a. lot of designing
I politicians with a purchased clack. Jonathan
I says that It Is a fundamental trait of human
nature that no man ever voluntarily sur
' renders power that he feels be la legit
imately entitled to as his own. and that ho
.2-aa once exercised honestly and wisely, and
that tho electora will not, therefore, abdl
vcate for the Tweeds. He urges that the
electors should league together In a pledge
:to one another and to the whole people to
vute against every aspirant and every candi
date tor office In the primary and general
election, who may have sought, or may have
accepted t.y silence or In expression, an In
dorsement or nomination at the hands of an
assembly.
Junior Jonathan mar eonaol his soul In
peace. He may be assured that there Is no
conspiracy; that there are no orooka or
"vagabonds, no political clackers or hlgh
t.!niors. or rlngsters, no bosses, no machines
or Tweeds, no serfs, no slaves and not
enough venal voters to return Jonathan
Bourne. Jr., to the United States Senate.
Hence these tears.
There Is. however, a growing sentiment
In Oregon among Republican voters that

Next Saturday afternoon the Multno

eleven is scheduled to meet the fast foot
ball team of the Catholic Toung Men's
Club on Multnomah Field. The indica
tions are thaa it will be one of the fastest
and hardest-fought football games of
the season.
Multnomah has a strong, light, young
team, and demonstrated in the games
against The Dallea Athletio Club and
Willamette University that it is a classy
aggregation. The clubmen have been
working hard to perfect practice and to
develop teamwork In ail branches. The
success attained is most flattering to the
management of the club, and when the
boys face the Catholic players Saturday
they will possess confidence.
However, they are not underestimating
their opponents In the least, for the Bast
Side aggregation gave a demonstration of
its strength in the game against the
Oregon Agricultural College last Satur
day, when they were defeated because
of fumbles. Multnomah, as well as the

every night, and both teams show marked
improvement. The game will be called

Whole Body a Mass of Raw, Tor
turing Humor Hair All Fell Out
and Ears Seemed Ready to Drop

Would End Fearful Suffering.
CASE SEEMED HOPELESS
BUT CUTICURA CURED HER
"Words cannot describe the terribla
eczema I suffered with. It broke out
on my head and kept spreading untU it
covered my whole body. I was almost
a solid mass of sores from head to foot.
I looked more like a piece of raw beef
than a human being. The pain and
agony I endured seemed more than I
could bear. Blood and pus oozed from
the great sore on my scalp, from under
my finger nails, and nearly all over my
body. My ears were so crusted and
swollen I was afraid they would break
off. Every hair in my head fell out.
I could not sit .down, for my clothes
would stick to the raw and bleeding
flesh, making me cry out from the pain.
My family doctor did all he could, but
1 got worse and worse. My condition
was awful. I did not think I could live,
and wanted death to come and end my
frightful sufferings.
"In this condition my mother-in-law
begged me to try the Cuticura Rem
edies. I said I would, but had no hope
of recovery. But oh, what blessed re
lief I experienced after applying Cuti
cura Ointment. It cooled the bleeding
and itching flesh and brought me the
first real sleep I had had in weeks. It
was as grateful as ice to a burning
tongue. I would bathe with warm
water and Cuticura Soap, then apply
the Ointment freely. I also took Cuti
cura Resolvent for the blood. In a
short time the sores stopped running,
the flesh began to heal, and I knew I
was to get well again. Then the hair
on my bead began to grow, and in a
short time I was completely cured.
1 cannot praise Cuticura enough. I
wish- I could tell everybody who has
eczema to use Cuticura. My condition
was so terrible that what cured ms
cannot fail to cure anybody of this
awful disease. If any one doubts the
truth of this letter, tell them to write
to me. Mrs. Wm. Bunt, 135 Thomas

Different doctors have different ideas in
regard to cures. Some call a suppression of

My Cures Are
Permanent
In all my work I am
t mo rough, painstaking
and careful to give Just
the right treatment re
quired in each Individu
al case. For 25 years I
have been proving nly
ability and my business
methods have always
been strictly reliable.
My unqualified success
is due to - a thorough
medical education, sup
plemented by years of
experience in men's spe
cial ailments only. My
treatment is as correct
as modern science can
make it. Others may
offer inducements such
as cheap treatment or
?ulck treatment, but my
oremoBt claim is for
thoroughness, which in
the long run in EVERT
CAS E means the
cheapest and the beat.
VARICOSE VEINS.
A thorough cure without pain or
cutting. Every case of Varicose
Veins I treat proves the superior
ity of my mild and harmless meth
od, and the folly of resorting to
surgery. In most Instances it is
even unnecessary to detain the pa
tient a single day from his busi
ness. The treatment I employ is
distinctly my own, and can be
had at my office only. Do not
submit to the knife and hospital
expenses, when a complete and
permanent cure can be had with
out the loss of time, and without
pain or cutting.
