wishes to renew the matrimonial experi
ment with another party. This case is
premature."
Frederleksen'a attorney Intimated that
he would, file an amended complaint,
making more serious charges.
Judge Gantenbeln granted nine divorces
yesterday. Mrs. Florence A. Brown said
that when she married James J. Brown.
April 3, 1SS3. he was a sober, industrious
man. But five years later he took to
drinking, and at lost. In April. 1907, re
fused to pay their house rent, and told
her to take their two children and go to
her mother's. Notwithstanding their sep
aration, says the wife, her husband per
sists in annoying her and the children oil
the street, and to prevent this she secured
from the court an injunction. She alao
obtained a divorce and the custody of
the children.

told Judge Gantenbeln that he beat her

in her propertv. The wedding took place

Declares Husband Drunkard.
Carrie Ward filed in the Circuit Court
yesterday morning a divorce suit against
Frank M. Ward, whom she married in
Nebraska, April 13, 1S98. She says that
since she married him he has become A
habitual drunkard, and hss failed to pro
vide for her. In one Instance which she
cites, he paid a visit to Fritz-' The
ater, on Burnslde street, and drank there
with women of questionable reputation.
That was last May. says Mrs. Ward.
She says further that last March, while
drunk, he became so boisterous that she
was obliged to call In a policeman. Her
life has been threatened, Ward once
driving her from her house with a re
volver In his hand. She thinks he would
have killed her but for the interference
of others, who took the weapon from
his hand. She desires the custody of
their two children.
Coffman ro Erect Brick Block.
CHEHALIS. Wash., Sept. 17. (Spe
clal.) A. L. Coffnjan began excavating
this morning for a new brick block to
be erected between the Bush Bros,
block and the Hotel St. Helens on Mar
ket street. The building will be 50x112
