Inquest 'Will Be Held Today.

Refnins. a tailor at 231 Washington street,
who lives In Cedar Hill Addition, was
run down by an automobile driven by H.
1. Keats, a well-known automobile dealer,
yesterday morning-, the boy sustaining
injuries from which he later died at St.
Vincent's Hospital.

flight from the wagon was hastened by
the commands of the driver. Mr. Keats
came along In his car Just as the lads
Jumped, the Repsling boy a little In ad
vance of his playmate, and unavoidably,
according to eye-witnesses, ran the little
fellow down. The accident occurred at
Twenty-flirst snd Flanders streets.
Mr. Keats Immediately stopped his car
and leaped to the ground, picking the
Injured boy up in his arms and hurried
to a nearby residence. Miss Crowe, a
trained nurse, who has been attending
Mr. Keats' small son, was in the machine
with him and attended young Reffllng's
Injuries until the arrival of Dr. A. El
Rockey, who recommended that he be
sent to the hospital. At the hospital
preparations were under way for an
operation when the boy expired. The ac
cident occurred at 9:30 o'clock and at 11:45
he was dead.
On advices from Coroner Norden the
body was removed to the morgue of
Dunning. McElntee & Gllbaugh, where an
Inquest will be held this afternoon at 4
o'clock. A Jury will be drawn for the
purpose and the District Attorney's office
will send a representative to assist In
the hearing.
BOY STEALS MOTORCYCLE
Rides From Tacoma to Portland and
Incidentally Buncoes Fireman.
Caught with a motorcycle which he. had
stolen In Tacoma and had ridden to
Portland yesterday. Bert Small, 20 years
old. an orphan, who says he has been
knocking his way around the world since
he was 9 years old, was arrested by
Captain of Detectives Baty and Patrol
man Oboper last ntrht. He will be held
to await the action of the Tacoma
authorities.
Besides stealing the machine Small vic
timised W. H. Ring, a driver for truck 1.
Ring bought the motorcycle for $70. They
took It to Ballou & Wright for repairs.
All the dealers in this city had been
notified of the number of the stolen ma
chine and when It made its appearance
at the repair shop the dealers notified the
police.
At tlrst the youth denied his guilt but
finally broke down and confessed. Fire
man Ring was notified and Small gave
him back $30. all the money he had left
from the purchase price. He had fitted
himself out with a new suit of clothes
and other articles of personal comfort.
The police took charge of the stolen
motorcycle and the unfortunate fireman
had to pocket the loss of $40. The ma
chine was stolen from a man named
Chapman In Tacoma.

the Klamath Falls postofnee from third

of the office has increased rapidly of
late and tke promotion of the office
will mean an increase In salary for
Postmaster Emmett, and the employ
ment of additional clerks.
Bell Company Serves Notice.
CALDWELL, Idaho, June 29. (Spe
cial.) The Bell Telephone Company gave
the Caldwell Commercial Club notice to
day that unless the club purchased the
line from here to Rockville for $17H.40,
the company would put men to work
Monday tearing- the line down. This the
club refused to do. An injunction will be
asked, as the club has $200 In the line,
which Is 35 miles long.
