CONTEST UP TO SENATE
Stephenson's Credentials Find Jja
Kollette Objecting.
WASHINGTON, March 2. The cre
dentials of Senator Stephenson, of Wis
consin, were laid before the Senate to
day by Senator Nelson and were or
dered printed and to lie on the table.
Senator LaFollette declared that the
credentials did not state all the facts,
since the Legislature is still balloting
daily.
MADISON, Wis., March 2. There
will be no election of a United States
Senator until after March 15, when the
investigating- committee Is supposed to
conclude Its work, according to the
progressives, who Include the antl
Stephenson Republicans, Democrats
and Social Democrats. They held a
caucus and decided not to attend joint
conventions of the Senate and Assem
bly until March 15.

WEATHER CONDITIONS.
The Vancouver Island storm moved rapid
ly eastward to the region of Montana and a
new disturbance has made Kb appearance
off the Washington Coast. Warnings for
this new storm were Issued at 5:45 P. M.
to the Coast seaports from Cape Flattery
south to Cape Foulweather.
During the last 24 hours light rain has
fallen in Western Oregon and Western Wash
ington and it was still raining at 5 P. M. at
the mouth of the Columbia River and at
the entranoe to the Stra.lt of Fuea. East
of the Cascade Mountains the weather la
somewhat cloudy and threatening, but no
rain has fallen in the low lands.
The temperatures are everywhere above
normal on the Pacific Slope and they are
decidedly above normal in Southern and
Eastern Oregon, Southeastern Washington
and Southeastern Idaho.
The Indications are for rain Wednesday
in Western Oregon and Western Washing
ton and for increasing cloudiness in the east
ern portions of these states and Idaho.
