Mi'ST Rkmovb Timbers. City Engineer
Taylor says that the Umbers left In the
embankment on Kast Morrison street,
between Kast Water street and Union
avenue, must be taken out lefore other
Improvements can be made. These
timbers are part of the old elevated road
way and were left when the till was
made. Jt had b.-en proposed to Improve
the street with stone blocks on a concrete
foundation, hut Mr. Taylor decided that
It could nut be done while these timbers
remained, and for another year at least.
It is now proposed to take out the timbers
and replank the street. The work will
probably not be undertaken until after
the holidays, as the business men object
to I he disruption of the street while the
holMav trade Is on. To remove the tim
bers will likely cause the closing of the
Mrei t to vehicles, but It will be open for
persons afoot and for streetcars. East
.Alder street Is being finished between
Water street and I'nion avenue, and It
run take care of the vehicle travel while
Kast Morrison Is being repaired.
