PRAISE FOR OREGON
Seattle Men Find Eugene Team
Game Loser,
HOPE TO BEAT CORVALUS
Game With O. A. C. on Washington
Campus Thanksgiving Day Will
Decide Conference Champion
ship of Pacific Northwest.
Highly elated on account of their
victory over the University of Oregon
Saturday, Coach Dohie, Manager Ras
musen and the University of Washington
football squad passed through Portland
yesterday afternoon en route to Seattle.
The Washington players succeeded in
getting through the hard game without
the slightest injury, aside from a few
bruises, and while delighted at scoring
a victory, t!e entire team as well a& tiie
rooters, have all sorts of nice things to
say about their treatment at Kugene.
"The Oregon bunch Is the earnest losing
team 1 have ever seen," is. the way one
Seattleite expressed himself and from
Manager Rasmusen. Coach DobiA and
Captain Tegtmeier down to the last mem
ber of the rooters' brigade the same
sentiment was ecTioed.
"We could not have been treated better,
had we been at home." said Manager
Rasmusen. "The Ktigene men aro true
sportsmen, and when the game was over
Saturday, the speptators carrie.i the
players of both teams off the field on
their shoulders. Why, it really seemed as
though it were a victory for the home
team instead of a crushing defeat, and 1
was somewhat surprised at the demon
stration. " Washington proved to be much the
stronger team nd the result, of the game
represents tlie relative merits of the two
elevens. Dudley Clark was responsible
for Oregon's ability to keep the score
down to the final result, and it was his
work In the first half that prevented a
score, it was a great game and we are
satisfied that Oregon realizes that the
best team won. However,. Coach Forbes
has a team of practically all new play
ers, and while they are weak this year,
they will prove a formidable machine
next year.
The Washington team is returning
home with one idea in view, and that Is
to defeat the Oregon Agricultural Col
lege team at Seattle on Thanksgiving
day. This game will undoubtedly settle
the North we3t championship, for the Ore
gon "Aggies. by their defeat of Whit
man, have placed themselves in line to
compete for the conference college cham
pionship this season. Next Saturday the
"Aggies" come to Portland for their an
nual game with the University of Oregon,
and a fast exhibition can be expected
on Multnomah field next Saturday.

Champions Anxious to Play Winners
in Intcrscholastic League.
ALBANY, Or.. Nov. 15. (Special.) A
football game will probably be arranged
between Albany College, champion of the
non-conference colleges of Oregon, and
the winner of the championship of the
lnterscholastio League of Portland. Man
ager Gibbons, of the Albany College team,
will endeavor to schedule such a contest.
To remove any question of Albany's
claim to the non-conference champion
ship, Manager Gibbons has arranged the
following record of games: Albany de
feated Pacific University o to 0. Albany
then lost to Willamette University 5 to
6. and after Pacific had defeated Willam
ette 4 to 0, Albany defeated Willamette
in a return game 11 to 4. Albany de
feated the Chemawa India as 7 to 0 and
the Indians then defeated Pacific Uni
versity 30 to 4. Pacific, Willamette, Al
bany and Chemawa were the only non
conference teams that figured at all, and
Albany defeated all and also has the
best record on comparative scores.

and Walter Mdntyre, '09, right guard. These old players are the mainstays of the team, and Oregon is counting upon them for effective work.
Next Saturday's game will clo e the college football careers of Moullen and Mdntyre, who are just finishing their fourth year on the team.
DOCKET HOLDS 71 CASES
BUSY SESSION" AHEAD I'OR
JUDGE GALLOWAY AT ALBANY.
Twenty Divorce Suits Pending.
Bight to Assess Wells-Fargo Com
pany to Be Determined.
ALBANY. Or., Nov. 15. (Special.)
With a docket of 71 cases, Jajdffe William
Galloway will convene Department No. 2,
State Circuit Court for Linn County, for
the Fall term in this city tomorrow.
Twenty of the 71 cases are suits for di
vorce. The question of whether an Oropon
county, can assess the rijrht of a cor
poration to do business in its boundaries
when no specific franchise has been Riven
will be determined in the case of Wells
Fargo Company vs. Linn County. Linn
County assessed the risht of the express
company to do business in this county at
$25,000 and levied a tax thereon and the
company has brought suit to secure a
permanent injunction against such an as
sessment. The decision in this matter
will be of widespread effect and it may
be rendered this .term.
A number of Linn County's leading
corporations are involved in litigation
to come up at this term. The Lebanon
Paper Company, which owns the big
paper mills at Lebanon, is suing the
Lebanon Lumber Company over rights in
cident to the use of water from the
South Santiam River at Lebanon. The
Calapooia Lumber Company, which op
erates a sawmill at CrawfordsvilI, is
involved in two suits, one it brought
against James N. Rice et al. to set aside
an award of damages and another
brought against the company by Linn
Countv to enjoin it from operating a dam
in the Calapooia River, which overflows
and damages a county road. The City
of Brownsville as defendant in an injunc
tion suit brought by Klva M. JIartin to
prevent the opening of certain streets.
The case of the president and trustee!
of Tualatin Academy and Pacific Uni
versity vs. Emma A. Keene et al., which
involves an old bequest to the Foreft
Grove school, and whicli has been on tna
docket a long time, will likely be con
cluded this week.
The growing popularity of the Torreni
system of registration of titles is shown
by the fact that there are ten applica
tions under its provisions on the present
docket. There have been 46 applications
in Linn County since the law went into
effect. There is added local interest in
this law because of the fact that it was
introduced in this state by Attorney
Percy R. Kelly, of this city, who secured
its adoption by the Oregon Legislature
when a member of the State Senate from
Linn' County.
