County Assessor B. T. Slfrler has
completed the assessment rolls of
Mnltnomah County for 190?, on which
taxes will be let-led and collected In
190. The rolls show an Increase of
I15.078.0K, or a little lest than 7 per
cent, over the assessment of last year.
The tax rolls were completed yester
day and will be submitted to the
County Board of Equalization October
It. Accordingly those who desire to
prepare protests to be submitted to the
Board must do so before that date.
The books in the Assessor's office
were open to the public yesterday and
will remain open durlnir remainder of
the week. Mr. Slgler urges those wno
are interested to examine their assess
ments, compare them with those of
their neighbors and point out any er
rors that may have been made. v
An extra force of clerks has been
put to work in order to accommodate
the public.
"I don't want anyone to think he has
escaped assessment on his personal
property simply because lie has per
sistently failed to turn In a statement."
said Mr. Slgler. "All personal property
has been assessed and those who liave
failed to turn In a statement have been
looked after just as those who have
turned them In."
The total assessment this 5 ear Is
1348,310.874. compared with 1:33.232.858
for 1907. The Increase over last year's
assessment Is $15,078,016. or a little less
than 7 per cent.
The Increase In assessment of acre
age Is partially due, according to Mr.
Flgler. to the fact that 82.t43.000 of
franchises Is assessed In the acreage
hooks, or placed with real property.
