Hopes to Secure lYeedom In Ten

George Blodgett, the confessed mur

Fritz' Theater, at Second and. Burnsida
streets, was taken to the State Peniten
tiary at Salem yesterday by Sheriff Stev
ens. Blodgett manifested but little emo
tion as he left his cell at the County Jail,
and accompanied the Sheriff to the train.
At the Jail Blodgett had for a cellmate
Charles Walton, the highwayman who
held up a streetcar four years ago. Dur
ing his stay at the County Jail Blodgett
has raised several families of canaries.
He will have one of the birds sent to
Salem, but the others he has given away.
Blodgett took only a few of his personal
belongings, among which is a scrapbook,
containing newspaper clippings relating
to himself.
Although he is under a life sentence,
imposed by Judge Gantenbeln of the Cir
cuit Court, the murderer hopes to secure
his freedom within 10 years. Deputy
Sheriff Wagner was Informed by Blod
gett that he intended to have his friends
circulate a petition for his pardon, to be
presented to the Governor when enough
signatures had been obtained
Blodgett was once convicted and sen
tenced to be hanged, but the Supreme
Court ordered a new trial, and Blodgett
pleaded guilty to murder in the second
degree. He succeeded in being taken to
The skin is aa index to the quality of the blood. Eczema, Acne, Tetter,
pimples, rashes, eruptions, etc., show that some unhealthy humor or acid
impurity is diseasing and corrupting' the circulation, so that instead of
supplying nourishment and strength to the fine, delicate tissues of the skin,
it is continually pouring out its acrid and unhealthy accumulations.
External applications of salves, washes, lotions, etc., may relieve some of
the itching and other discomfort caused by skin troubles, and for this reason
should be used, but such treatment cannot reach the humor-laden blood,
and therefore cannot cure. A thorough cleansing of the blood is the only
cure for skin diseases. S. S. S., a purely vegetable preparation, is the best
and quickest remedy. - It goes dotn into the circulation and neutralizes
and removes the acids, impurities and humors, thoroughly purifies the
circulation and permanently cures skin diseases of every kind. When
S. S. S. has driven the humors and impurities from the blood, and cooled
and cleansed the acid-heated circulation, every symptom passes away, the
skin.is again nourished with rich, healthful blood and the trouble cured, as
the cause has been removed. Book on skin diseases and any medical advice

MOTHER FOUND FOR CHILDREN
Home for Potter Girls, Whose Father
Goes to Sanitarium.
A mother, a temporary one, at least,
has been found fo the three little Pot
ter girle, who were recently befriended
in" Police Court by Judge Cameron. Their
father, who is afflicted with rheumatism,
and who is said to be often drunk, will
go to St. Martin's Springs for his health.
The temporary "mother" for the little
girls was found with the assistance of
Mrs. Lola G. Baldwin and the Juvenile
Court.
The hearing at Police Court over a
week ago developed the fact that the
father Is accutomed to pnt the children
through family fire drills, summoning
them from their slumbers at all hours of
the night with a cornet. They would then
go through a hole in the wall, down a
ladder, to a place of safety, returning to
rescue their invalid father.
Ruth, Potter's 12-year-old girl, accused
Union Barrett, a whisky salesman, with
beating her when she interfered with his
attacks on her father. The salesman was
find J25 by Judge Cameron. Potter was
also tried in the Police Court on a charge
of attempting to kill Mrs. B. F. Caft
wright with a revolver.

Imitations.
Cheap Substitutes and
"Just As Good As."
Unscrupulous dealers, mindful only of profit
and caring nothing for the health of their pa
trons, are offering for sale low-grade, Impure
whiskey, -which they tell you is as "good as
Duffy's." (
. It Is a cheap concoction and fraud, In
tended to deceive the people. Of course.
when a remedy has been before the pub
lic so long, has been prescribed and used
by the best doctors and in all the promi
nent hospitals, and has carried, the bless
ing of health into so many thousands of
homes as Duffy's Pure Malt Whiskey has,
imitations are bound to arise. But they
can Imitate the bottle and label only
no one can Imitate the contents.
Duffy's Pure Malt Whiskey is an ab
solutely pure distillation of malted grain;
great care being used to have- every
kernel thoroughly malted, thus destroy
ing the germ and producing a predi
gested liquid food in the form of a malt
essence, which is the most effective tonic
stimulant and invigorator known to sci
ence; softened by warmth and moisture,
its palatabilUy and freedom from in
jurious substances render it so that it
can be retained by the most sensitive
stomach.
Any firm that will sell imitation or sub
stitution goods will sell impure goods.
The firm that is dishonest In one thing
would not hesitate to be dishonest In an
other. Whenever you" see imitation and
substitution goods offered for sale by
a firm, beware of anything and every

your family and friends Yy dealing with
them.

Men's
ALL ARE
There's no drawing the line between curable
and incurable diseases. Each individual case
must be considered. Most doctors claim that
among that class of diseases peculiar to men
one or two are incurable. This idea is wrong.
I have demonstrated that it is wrong, tor I
cure all diseases of men. The truth is, that
some cases of curable diseases are incurable,
and some cases of so-called incurable diseases
are easily curable by the right methods. I by
no means claim the ability to cure any and
every case that may come to my office, but I
claim to cure most of the cases that others
cannot cure, and I always refuse 'treatment
where conditions indicate that I will be un
able to obtain thorough and lasting results.

to be alone? Are you gloomy, with a sense of some great oppression
upon you? If so, then you need my treatment.
If you have any or all of the above symptoms, you surelv do not
desire to remain so. Let me explain to you my methods of rebuilding
the vigor of men and refer you to the thousands I have cured. -
My Cure for Weakness
I not only cure "weakness" promptly, but I employ the only treat
ment that can possibly cure this disorder permanently. It is a system
of local treatment entirely original with me. and Is employed by no
physician other than myself. This may seem a broad assertion, but
it Is Just as substantial as it is broad. So-called "weakness" is but a.
symptom of local inflammation or congestion, and a radical cure is mere
ly a matter of restoring normal conditions throughout the organic sys
tem, and this I accomplish thoroughly and with an absolute certainty.
STRICTURE
My treatment is absolutely
painless and perfect results can
be depended upon in every in
stance. I do no cutting or dilating
whatever.
CONTRACTED DISORDERS

Not one of my patients has ever

less time than the ordinary forms
of treatment require.
EXAMINATION FREE
