Reports of Loss of Rosamond Are
Thought Vnfounded.
ABERDEEN. Wash.. April 19. (Spe
cial.) The echooner Rosamond, posted
overdue and for which a high rate of
re-insurance Is being eharged, is not
believed to have been lost, according to
marine men here. In this city, the im
pression prevails that the offering of
re-insurance la unwarranted. About 40
days after the departure of the Rosa
mond, one of her life-preservers with
some wreckage was found on the coast
of Vancouver Island, giving rise, to the
belief that the vessel had met with dis
aster. However, according to Collector
of the Port Dorn, some alterations were
to have been made in the vessel's cabin,
and the wreckage Is thought to have
been but a portion of the, woodwork
which had been thrown Inte the sea.
"In my opinion, the Rosamond is
safe." said the Collector yeeterdar.
"She has been out only days thus
far. and only under most favorable cir
cumstances could she be expected to
have reached Callao at an earlier date.
An average passage is ! days, while S
days ! a good passage. She was posted
as overdue when she wss bur 40 days
out. As fsr as the finding of wreck
age Is ecmcemed. I know Captain Chase
made some alterations In his cahin. and
the wreckage, I am sure, is only that
portion of the woodwork which was
torn out. Instead of burning it. Cap
tain Chase's men threw It over the
side. The Rosamond will, in my opin
ion, safely reach her destination. If she
hss not already arrived at, the Peruvian
port. The schooner -is a four-master,
and carried a crew of about lo men.
She loaded more than i.00n.oQ feet of
lumber at West s mill in this city."

A lady In Oswego; Mont., expert
enced a slow but sure disease settling
upon- her -eyes In the form of lncreas
lng weakness and shooting pains with
wavy, dancing lines of light, so vivid
that nothing else could be seen for
minutes at a time. ,
She says:
"This gradual failure of sight
alarmed me and I naturally began
very earnest quest for the cause. Abou
this time I was told that coffee poison
ing sometimes - took thatr form, and
while I didn't believe that coffee was
the cause of my trouble, I concluded
to quit Jt and see. .
"I took up Postutn Food Coffee in
spite of the jokes of husband,' whose
experience with one cup at a neigh
bor's was unsatisfactory.- Well,
made Postum strictly according to di
rections, boiling it a little .longer, be
cause of our nign aiutuae. The re
sult was eharming. I have now used
Postum in place of coffee for about
three months and my eyes are well.
never paining me or showing an
weakness. I know to a certainty that
the cause of the trouble was coffee and
the cure was in quitting it and build
ing up the nervous system on Postum,
for that was absolutely the only
change I made in diet and I took no
medicine.
-"My nursing baby has been kept In
a perfectly healthy state since I have
used Postum. -
"Mr. ,.a friend, discarded coffee
and took on Postum to see If he could
be rid of his dyspepsia and frequent
headaches. The change produced a
most remarkable improvement quick
