violently Insane this morning and at
tempted to kill his sons and daughter with
an ax. Later he had to be shot down
and nearly killed before he could be
overpowered.
Kenyon rushed hi the back door of his
homo while the family was seated at
breakfast, lie carried an upraised ax and
wildly shouting tried to dash out the
brains of his youngest son. An older lad
'attempted to disarm his father and tha
wife and her young daughter escaped.
Kenyon repeatedly tried to kill his eldest
son. who ran towards' tho woods with
his father In pursuit. The hid escaped
and when Konon returned to Hie house
his wife and daughter had fled to the
town of Chemtitnus.
A posse of ellizena armed with rifles
turned out. They found Kenyon break
ing up the furniture In his house. When
l-.e saw the armed men he ran at them
swinging his ax.
They in tirst fled, honing that he would
drop his weapon, but he kept on and as
he charged a second time a Constable
tired at close range.- The bullet crashed
through Knyon's shoulder and ho
dropped the ax. l?von then it took flvo
men to hind him.

Leasue of the county has since been en
deavoring to bring about the enforce
ment of the state law prohibiting the

succeeded in securing a sufficient num
ber of petitions to place the local option
question to a vote of the people at the
next election.
District Attorney Brown has announced
