The Maealcy Junction Improvement
Club, whose district includes the site of
the Swift packing plant and a larre
manufacturing section on Columbia
boulevard, has undertaken extensive Im
provements. Sites tor five manufactur
ing concerns have been bought at the
junction by firms that are interested in
securing a passenger and freight depot
on the Hill Una. and have opened nego
tiations with the railroad company. At
the meeting Saturday night, the club de
cided to support the efforts of these
manufacturing concerts and will also
communicate with the company on the
subject of depot and telegraph facilities.
It was announced that the erection of
these plants would be begun as aoon as
the depot for pasergers and freight la
establ'shed.
It was decided at the meeting that all
the street in the district should be im
proved as soon as it can be done so
that there will be outlets ior the roanu-
