ready to act and within ten days it is
expected that the work of stringing the

Improvements at Kelso.

-Continued activity la apparent in all
lines of buiidinK in this city. The
contract has been let for the new V.
P. Kly Mtildmjr. which will he a modern
two-story brick, and t A. Hancock will
build n addition to his furniture store,
puttinsr in a modern 50-foot Rlass front.
The new McOonouch Opera-House will
be completed by the l.Sth of the month,
and wi-1 he dedicated on the evening of
the 1 Sth. at which time the Modern
Woodmen of America will jsive a ball.
Scenic arttets are busy finishing; the
scenery for tbc stac'c. About 40 new
dwellings have been erected this month,
and over 20 are in course of construc
tion. Te Council has ordered a census
taken, and the city, with the recently
annexed town of OaTlin. will be placed
in the third class.

better at thi season of the year. The
peach orchards are pay in their pink
blooms now. and growers report that
there will have to be bip thinninps
unless Jack Frost should yet take a
hand and do the work. All other fruit
crops have likewise favorable reports,
and prowers are in pood spirits over
tne season's prospects.
