Cabinet, the diplomatic corps, membera of

ficials, and distinguished cltiiens of the
roimtry to attend the Rose Festival in
June, will be printed early next week,
and be ready for mailing a few days later.
Ofllrers of Army and navy, as well as the
leading newspapers of the country, are to
he Included In the list of those to whom
Invitations will be sent. Special requests
will be made of newspapers to send cor
respondents here durmgr -the celebration.

tain a brief summary of the different fear
turea of the whole week. Including pa

the official colors of the Festival. "While
the Festival management will attempt to
distribute them generally, all those who
desire to use them for mailing purpose
may secure as many as needed by sending
a messenger to Festival headquarters any
time after they have ' been issued, the
date of which will be announced in the
daily papers.
There will also be issued 100.000 post
cards containing the official programme
of the festival week, but they will not be
ready for a week or more, and they can
be secured at the proper time. These
post-cards and inserts will be among the
neatest advertising "dodgers" that have
ever been sent out from the Northwest,
and effort will be made to see that all trie
leading hotels and news-stands of the
country are provided with them.
Next week Architect Lewis will let the
contract for the J2S00 "Arch of Welcome."
the appropriation for which was author
ised by the passage of the Annand ordi
nance at the adjourned meeting of the
City Council, Thursday afternoon. The
arch is to be located at the Union Depot,
crossing Sixth street at Irving, and is to
be completed in time for the opening of
the festival. Although it will be only
temporary in character, it is expected
that some scheme may be devised by
which it can e perpetuated. It will be
equipped with an illuminated sign bear
ing the word "Welcome." Under this
arch Mayor Lane will present the keys
of the city to King Rex upon his arrival
Monday noon. June 1.

the most harmonious and enthusiastic

other cities displayed the same fine spirit
and team work, Portland wouldn't hold
the crowds that will be here In June.
