Woman Who Killed Faithless Para
mour Acquitted by Jury.
U:S AN'OEIBS, (al., Feb. 21. THe jury
in the case of Mrs.. Bstelle Corwell,
sharped with the murder of George T.
Bennett, a contractor, in this city on July
22. 1907, tonight returned a verdict of ac
riuittal after deliberating less than three
hours. The trial has lasted nearly six
weeks.
Mrs. Corwell, with whom Bennett ved
fur some time, went in a cab on the night
of the shootine to the home of Miss May
Kennett, to whom he was reported to be
enframed, and, calling Bennett from the
porch, shot and killed him on the side
walk. The- defense said that Bennett was
Fhot while endeavoring to prevent Mrs.
(."orwell from committing suicide.
