to return to his home on account of not
feeling well. On account of Judge
Williams' advanced age. the report of his
illness occasioned great concern among

DISCUSSES STEEL'S BOND
Governor's Investigation of Sureties
Is Still in Progress.
"I am still carefully Investigating the
sufficiency of the sureties furnished by
State Treasurer Steel for his new bond
in the sum of 600,000," said Governor
Chamberlain yesterday. "In the main, I
find that the bond is satisfactory, but
some of the bondsmen are not satis
factory, as I have already intimated, and
I shall ask that they be replaced, shpuld
the aggregate signed for by the approved
sureties fall below the amount of the
bond. It will be several days yet before
I can complete an Investigation of all the
euretles."
