horses will be held at Irvlngton Race
Track. May 1. 2 and S. Portland Is be

of live stock, especially horses. The list
of entries In this sale shows high quality,
unexcelled by any breeders' offering on
this coast. Of the 150 horses listed. 80
per ctmt are standard bred. Twenty
matched teams are entered. Flno road
sters, business horses, saddlers, high
bred young stallions and relgistered
mares will appear at the auction block
and become the property of Oregonians
and buyers from neighboring states. Ar
rangements are complete. Many Interior
buyers are now in town awaiting the
sale. Colonel Harrlmnn, a distinguished
Missouri auctioneer, will conduct the 6ale
for the Portland riorse Sale Company.
The blood of greatness runs lji the
veins of these -young horses. The great
progenitors of the trotting horse are well
represented. The United States govern
ment Is reviving the Morgan, that other
name for courage and beauty In the four
footed. Some 30 Morgans, the real thing,
aro Included In this sale 'offering.
Brook-Nook Ranche, a great Montana
breeding plant, has already shipped four
carloads of standard breds. Many of the
handsomest horses on Portland streets
now were foaled at Brook-Nook and
found their way, through appreciative
horsemen. to Oregon. The Brook
Nookers have a way of taking blue rib
bons In the show ring. also.
The Tongues have been of Oregon's
most progressive and successful horse
men, and are represented in the sale with
several high class entries. J. A. Jones'
Bpringbrook farm Is the home of one of
the best sons of the great McKlnney,
and of splendid matrons. Mr. Jones Is
making" this a dispersal sale, and this
consignment Is of especial interest for
high Quality. Nocturne 2:26, and several
ot his get, Oliver J., a McKlnney of high
type, and many record horses and splen
did speed prospects will induce buyers
to invest.
Some of the unbeaten "White House
Road Brigade- will be In the sale. In
tnrf history, not forgetting the fact of
improvement In other ways of transpor
tation. Interest In the horse was never
more keen. Previous to the sale each
day the horses will be shown and worked
out and several Interesting events in the
speed line are expected to be brought off.

WKATHKR CONDITIONS.
The pressure remains high over Northwest
Washington and comparatively low ever
bouthera California. This has resulted in a
continuation of the northerly wind and clear
.kte. that have prevailed lately. No rain oc
curred at any station from the Pacific east
mard to the Dakota Temperatures were
somewhat higher. These were above the nor
mal west ot the Cascades, and generally be
low east of that range.
The Indications point to continued fair
weather over this forecast district Tuesday.
