Opinions of Candidates. The opinions of the candidate regard ting the relative rights of the people and (the public utility corporations are of Im portance at this time because franchises nre everywhere being nought, and, in jkeeping with the development of the ntate, must everywhere be granted. Whether, in the granting of franchises, the representatives of the people shall reserve a reasonable power of regulation and ?hall require reasonable compensa tion for the special powers conferred, and compel such corporations to bear a Just proportion of the burden of taxation. Is to. matter In which the public is directly concerned. Before selecting the men who tvIH go to Salem and make laws for the Ftato. the people should compare their 'views upon questions of this kind. Questions for Candidates.
