The four corners of the earth are represented in the award list Issued yesterday by Exhibits Director H. E. Dosch, and Oregon Manufacturers have just cause for exultation that they have succeeded in taking second place. Japan secured a total of ISO awards. Kinety-four of these are for gold medals, 4 for silver apd 12 bronze. Oregon ex hibitors secured 114 awards, 43 for gold medals, 34 for silver, 14 bronze and S3 diplomas of honorable mention. Third I place Is held by France with 28 medals, nine of them gold.ten silver six bronze and three diplomas. Washington cap tured eight gold, seven silver and two bronze medals; California secured 13 gold, two silver' and one bronze: Idaho, five gold, four silver, four bronze and seven diplomas; New York. 14 gold, four silver and three bronze; East Indies, eight gold; Ohio, eight gold; Colorado, two gold; Rus sia, England, Austria and Germany, ono gold medal each; Kansas, Florida and Louisiana, one gold each; Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, three gold each; Connec ticut, two gold; Italy, three gold. CONNELLSVILLE. Pa.. Nov. 19. At the Overholt distillery, at Broadford, today, S10.000 gallons of whisky fur nished a spectacular fire, entailing- a loss of 51.000.000. The main bonded warehouse was burned to the ground. A steady northeast wind, which blew the Hames toward the Youghlogheny River, saved the town of Broadford, the buildings of the H. C. Frlck Coke Company " and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad station from destruction. Smoke was first seen Issuing- from the third story, which was alongside the Baltimore & Ohio tracks. Joseph McDonald and George Patlekln, em ployes, climbed up the fire escape and opened one of the small Iron doors. They were caught In a cloud of smoke, which suffocated them, and they drop- ped unconscious on the fire escape. They were rescued by other workmen and a general alarm was sounded. The blue-tinged flames from the burning alcohol were soon shooting more than' 100 feet into the air. As barrels of old rye whisky on each of the four floors burst, the blazing liquid was splashed In all directions. The main track of the railroad was kept clear of debris and passenger trains shot past at such speed as to avoid damage from the Intense heat. Calls for help were sent to Connells vllle. Unlontown and McKcesporu Broadford is but two miles from here, and the Connellsvllle fire department on a special train reached the scene quickly. The men by hard work man aged to savo the buildings near by. and the calls to the two other towns were withdrawn.
