TACOMA, "Wash., May 12. (Special.)
The Tlgera had only one chance to score
today, and that was in the ninth, when
Doyle and Nordyke singled. Eagan was
passed, but McLaughlin forced Eagan.
For eight innings -only two hits were
made off Garvin and not a man reached
second base. The lanky Texan's work
was almost perfect.
Fireman Fitzpatrick was a chopping
block for the Portland sluggers, and that
the score Is not larger Is due to fast field
ing, the Tads making four double plays.
In the first inning, after Atz was out. Van
Buren bunted safely, singles by House
holder and McCredie scoring him. In the
third the visitors drew three hits, but
made no tallies. Atz singled and stole
second, taking third on Householder's hit.
The latter stole second and Atz was
caught at the plate. Schlafiy hit safely
and by clever work of Graham, Nordyke
and Casey, Householder was also out at
home. In the fourth, singles by McLean,
Mitchell, Garvin and "Van Buren, with
Runkle's pass, gave Portland three. An
other was added on Garvin's double and
Atz' aingle. The last came when the
third strike on Schlafiy got away from
Qraham, he scoring on McCredle's infield
hit and Doyle's error. The visitors did
some clever work, Atz fielding being
very fast. Score:

OREGON EASY FOR SALEM ITES

Score of 13 to 7.
WILLAMETTE UNIVERSITY. Salem.
Or., May 12. (Special.) The University
of Oregon baseball team proved easy meat
for Willamette this afternoon. The score
was 13 to 7. and the game was even more
one-sided than the score Indicates. Six of
Oregon's seven tallies were literally given
to her by wild throws. In fact, the local
team put up the poorest exhibition of ball
of the year. The visitors seemed to enter
into the spirit of the affair and even out
did the home team In the number of er
rors. Kelley did the slab work for Oregon.
He was very wild, and was batted all over
the lot by Willamette. Jerman occupied
the box for the Salem team, and after
the first two Innings proved a puzzle to
the visitors.
