Before Vessel Sails.
All that Is left of the big; Government

came up the river yesterday afternoon,
and "will spend 24 hours ,on the drydock
before g-olng- to the mills to load.
There is now 425,000 feet ready for ship
ment. The first lot went out on the Aleo

carried a big consignment for Manila. All
this lumber will go to Fort "William Mc

Dumbarton Takes Big Cargo From
v Portland to Japanese Ports.
A big cargo of flour will start today for
Japan. "When the British steamship Dum
barton leaves port there will be 56,050 bar
rels on board. This is valued at $201,750.
The Dumbarton has received her clearance
papers for Yokohama, Kobe and Moji, and
will probably leave early this morning.
The vessel loaded the main part of her
cargo at the Portland Flouring Mills, and
Wednesday went to St. Johns to complete
it. Owing to the war, this is the largest
cargo to leave here for Oriental ports for
a year.
CHEHALIS IS LONG OVERDUE
Simpson Dumber Company's Barken-
tine Is Slow Coming From Ccbu.
The barkentine Chehalis, owned by the
Gimpson Lumber Company, of San Fran
cisco, is overdue from Cebu. She is listed
lor TVillapa Harbor, but will probably en
ter the Columbia first. Not once has she
been reported since leaving the Philippine
port, and considerable anxiety is felt for
her safety, as she is nearly a month be
hind the usual time.
Shipping men who know the waters she
has passed say that it is probable she fell
into a certain bight from which It would
require a month to escape. Several other
vessels have found the spot, to their sor
row. Schooners to Be Cleaned.
ABERDEEN, Wash., April 27. (Spe
