TWO DEEE5DAKTS ABE MISSING
K. F. Minton and A. Zacheray, Who
. Were Indicted, Disappear.
When the land fraud cases are called
in the .Federal Court the Government
will miss two of the defendants. It has
been learned definitely that Benjamin
F. Minton and Adelbert Zacheray fcave
vanished over the border Into some land
where land frauds are not.
Minton was indicted for complicity
In some of the Meldrum bog-us survey
cases and has been living at Woodruff's
camp near Everett, "Wash. He has not
been found by the "United States Mar
shal who went to look for him, and his
mall has been accumulating: at Everett
for several weeks.
Zacheray was indicted with W. "W.
Steiwer, H. Ii. Hendricks and others in
the Butte Creek Land. Lumber & Live
stock case in Wheeler County, in which
indictment the company was charged
with having fenced up a large part of
the Government land in Wheeler Coun
ty contrary to the laws of the United
States. It was supposed that he was in
the interior of the state but the offi
cers have not been able to And him
and he is given up as lost
All of the other defendants under in
'dlctment have either deposited their
bonds with the court or have been al
lowed to go on their own recognizance
with the knowledge and consent of the
'Trustee of Bankrupt Accused.
Attorney J. X. Hoffman, of Hillsboro,
trustee In the case of Joseph Mahoney, a
bankrupt, is charged in a petition filed
in the United States Court with having
been unfaithful In the discharge of his
duties. Hoffman says that all of his acts
have been entirely regular and that the
petition filed by W. H. -Lyda, one of the
creditors, Is but a piece of spltework.
The hearing has been set for April 14.
