y 12 tHE MOBMDiG OBEGOHIAK, BATUBPAY, 1TAH0H IS, 1905. i TO PASS IN REVIEW General Williams to Scarf Third Regiment PREPARATIONS FOR EVENT .Farewell Reception to Colonel Huston and Officers of Nineteenth -In-vn fantry Is Also to Be Given Friday Night. The quarterly inspection of the Portland "contingent of the Thlrd Infantry, O. N. G., to be held on next Friday night, -will he marked by two conspicuous features, the review of the troops by General Con stant Williams and the farewell reception to be tendered Colonel Joseph F. Huston and his officers of the Nineteenth Infan try, U. S. A. During the inspection the full ceremony of review will be gone through, with General 'Williams and his staff occupying the reviewing stand. This will be an event of more than unusual Interest, since the chanoe is but rarely given the Oregon National Guard to be reviewed by an army officer of high rank. Blouses -will be cleaned and brushed, buttons polished, stripes piped and the equipment given an extra amount of scouring in preparation for the event, and that the Portland boys will more than do them selves proud on that occasion goes with out saying. An effort will be made to merit If possible a greater commendation than that given them by General Mac Arthur at the encampment at American Xake last year. Immediately following the Inspection Colonel Huston, together with his staff and line officers, will be entertained by the officers of the Third Infantry. Since the Nineteenth will leave for the Phil ippines on April 1 this will be the last opportunity for meeting its officers and the occasion will be made one of fare well. Since being Quartered In Vancou ver Barracks a close bond of military kinship has existed between the officers of the Nineteenth and their little brothers of Portland and many expressions of good wishes and good fortune are sure to be given them on the night of the 24th. "While the officers' reception is In prog ress a dance will be tendered by the dif ferent companies to their guests and friends, with Company B in charge of the floor.
