SULLY'S PEEENDS BEATEN.
Creditors Decide to Continue to In
quire Into His Affairs.
NEW YORK. April 8. The creditors ol
D. J. Sully & Co. held a meeting- today
at which Sully's friends were beaten In
an attempt to force a settlement and re
tired from the meeting. Those remaining
instructed the committee to continue Its
work of Inquiring into Sully's affairs.
It was said after the meeting that Sul
ly's proposition to pay 50 cents on the
dollar and give notes for three years
has been rejected by a large vote. The
Corn Exchange Bank has turned over
to the receivers the 1730 bales of cotton
held as surplus collateral and this the re
ceivers will sell.
Mayor Must Sign Light Franchise.
NORTH YAKIMA. Wash., April 8.
(Special.) An order has been made by
Judge Rudkin directing- E. "W. R. Taylor,
the Mayor of Prosser, forthwith to sign
the light and power franchise granted by
that town to the Prosser Falls Land &
Irrigation Company. The case came up
on mandamus proceedings. The franchise
ordinance was passed by the Prosser
Council on Febrauray 2, 1904, but Mayor
Taylor refused to sign it.
The law governing towns under which
Prosser is Incorporated gives the Mayor
no discretion. He must sign all ordinances
passed by the Councils of such munici
palities. The case will be appealed to the
Supreme Court.

Except a few showers along the Strait
of Fuca, no rain has fallen went of the Rockies
during the last 24 hours. It is much warmer
in Oregon, Western Washington and Southern
Idaho and slightly warmer In California. The
temperatures In Oregon are the highest so far
this season, and much snow must have melted
In the Cascades and Blue Mountains during
the last two days.
The Indications are for partly cloudy weather,
followed by ehowers, and cooler In Western
Oregon and Western Washington Saturday, and
fair and warmer weather east of the Cascades.
