Announcement
BY THE
Wiley B.Allen Co.
209-211 FIRST ST., 210-212 SECOND ST,,
PORTLAND, OREG0N
We have sold outright our good will, reputation and business interests, so far as relates to the piano
trade, to a very rich and powerful corporation. We are to have a reasonable length of time to dispose of
our present stock of sheet music, books and small goods, all used and rented pianos, organs, and in fact all
the merchandise we possess. When this is done The Wiley B. Allen Co. will cease to exist in the Northwest
and the new corporation, Gilbert & Jones, will become our successor. t
The Wiley B. Allen Co. will establish headquarters in San Francisco, with branches in Los Angeles and
Honolulu.
Now, we much prefer to sell out our small goods and sheet music departments to some person or
persons who will go right along and continue the excellent business which has taken 20 years to establish.
Portland needs a first-class and complete music house. Our stock of music books and musical
instruments should remain here. ' It is a shame to divide it up, shipping a portion here and there to different
music concerns in the Northwest. We are very willing to rqake most liberal concessions to buyers who will
take the stock as a whole, but if there are no buyers in the field for our business, then watch out for some
fun. We will then open the "gates of commerce" to the public at large and the music trade will become so
badly demoralized that it will take a long time for it to recover.
We tarry only a short period of time for the wholesale buyer, failing in this direction our. stock. will
absolutely be sacrificed to the retail buyer. Genuine Martin guitars and mandolins, the?Washburn celebrated
makes, band instruments in great profusion, 'cellos, basses, drums, graphophones, musical boxes, etc., to say
nothing of the thousands and thousands of musical publications which will all be disposed of in short order,
when once the sale begins. '
In the meantime we await the coming of the wholesale buyer, and, beginning at once, any of our
sheet music publications will be sold at a discount of one-half and 20 per cent. Books at greatly reduced
prices. All operas, band and orchestra music, edition Schirmer, Peters, studies classical, modern and other
wise, are on sale right now at a rate of discount which ought to bring all lovers of music within a radius of
two hundred miles to our store.
Our great piano sale will also begin in the near future. Our fixtures arc for sale, real estate, town lots,
store building, in fact all our possessions arc now offered for sale, and on easy terms of payment if desired.
