torious fact, however, that for three genera

is satisfied at lust, despite long-settled preju

It ts boldly announced now that the lands of
rebel whites should be confiscated, and given to

peers in the land, able to educate and improve
llienisulvos. It is not contended here that tho
highly cultivated uf tiny class should marry
with tho degraded. The elegatit and refined
gentleman would not find a congenial compan

poverty and despotism, .So the inlluuuce of
slavery must liavo been, iu many iustancee, to

periority to be found among the uegro girls of
the South that would give the incitement of

for a century, has gained strength by the associ
ation with his slaves.
Whatever measure of success attends the
operations against Charleston will be due to the
negroes employed ; uud if wo are not entirely
successful it is because Geo. Giltutore's preju
dices lend him tu keep the best and bravest
troops in the trenches, instead uf iu the field.
The author docs nut claim that the negro is

though he is quite us good, but does assert that
there is a providence iu the solution of the ques
tion of race on this continent. It can be solved
only by showing that tho colored man. despised,
dow n trodden, contemned, is yet to he thu sa

There are no insuperable diliicultiesin
Hie way of this reform. The prautiue of mela
leuliation will be first openly adopted in tho
mote thickly populated slave States. It ia uni
versal, uow, throughout the South und only
needs legitimatizing. Tho irregular alliances
of to day, will become the recognized anions of
to-morrow. It has been well said that the slave
of yesterday ia the aoldier of to day and the
citizen of to-morrow, lie ia to become the
social and political equal of the white.

ligion and democracy, the whole human nice is
ot one family, it follows that there should bo in)
distinction in political or aociul rights ou account

2. That the doctrine of human brotherhood
should be accepted in its entirety in the United
Mates, and that It implies the right uf white
and black to intermarry, should they so desire.
It. That the solution of the uegro problem will
not have been reached in this oi iintrv, until
public opiuiou sanctions a union of the two
races.
4. That, ns the negro cannot be driven out
of the country, or exterminated, ns for n wise
purpose he has beeu placed side by sido with
the white in the Southern States, there should
be uo impediment to the absorption of the one
race iu the other.
5. That whereas, this mingling of roes has
been going un illegitimately for over a hundred
years nt the South, without any evil ell'uct,
legitimate unions between whiles and blacks
could not possibly have any worso result than
tho present system.
ti. That the mingling of diverse races is a
positive beuelit to the progeny, aa is proven by
the history of all uatious, from that ol Kgypt
to the present day.
7. That as the rebellion lias been caused not
so much by slavery, as the base prejudico re
sulting from a distinction uf colur, and that
perleut peace cannot he restored to our country
until that distinction shall measurably cease,
by a general absuiption of tho black race by
the white. -
8. That it is tho duty of ami-slavery men
everywhere lu advocate miscegenation, 'or the
mingling of nil the races on this continent. It
is Well to make the uegro free, it is better still
to muke him a soldier, but it ia beat of all to
to share with him our hearts and homes.
