number of the Oregon papers that the brig
Fawn and schooner Umpqn.i were w recked
at the mouth of the Umitqua river.
Allow me to state for the benefit of the
aranftr and reputation of the harbor, that
the rawn was dismasted in a severe gal
off Cape Perpelua, and drifted ashore, twen
ty-live miles north of thw port. And that
the Utnpqaa came in after the storm, and
discharged a full carg, in goid condition,
at Allan, McKinlav & Co's. wharf.

The Central Committee hereby reqnest
the
Democracy of the various counties of this Terri
tory to select delegates to a Territorial Democratic
Convention to assemble at 8alein, on Monday, the
12th of April next, for the purpose of nominating
St candidate for Delegate to Congress, and to
' transact aaea ether business as may be deemed
oroper.
The committee would recommend as a basis of
gtpresentation, that the counties send delegates as
follows: Columbia 1. Wasco I, Washington 3,
Multnomah 4, Clackamas 5, Yamhill 4, Marion 7,
Lmi 6, Lane 6, I mpona 2, Douglas 4, Coos 1
Curry I, Josephine 2, Jackson 4, Benton 4, Polk
4, Tillamook I. Clatsop 1. It is confidently ex.
pected that each county will take prompt and
early steps to select delegates and secure a full
