The miscellaneous department will receive Special fttentioii
and, in all respects, the effort will be made to eMuhl.sh tha

furnishing tlie readers of the Xntimul Rrpiiilicifh with full,
and especially with accurate, accounts ot the progress of
the war for the Union.
In politica, the paper will be Roptiblicaniustnitiing the
Administration of Mr. Lincoln, but disrlaiif.inr, however
any pretention to be the organ of the President. There ia
no Republican paper in the District of Columbia, or in tha
vicinity ot it, and it ia believed that recent events have
opened to snch a paper an important sphere of useful effort.
The time has come, when the actual administration of tha
Government upon Republican principles will explode tha
misrepresentations wliich have ttiadn those principles ao
distasteful to the South. Hut it is not only here, and in
thia vicinity, that the projectors of the X:itiii,tl RrptMiran
hope to make it useful. To the whole country they offer a
ournal wliich will dismiss national politica from a national
standpoint, and which will never be awerved from patriotia
duty by any overpowering pressure of local interest.
