In politics, the paper wilt he Ropublican, sustaining the
Administration of Mr. Lincoln, hut diseliuming, however,
ny pretention to be the organ of the President. There ia
no Republican paper m tho District of Y'oiumbia, or in thd
vicinity ot it, and it is believed that recent events bar
nn'T-erl tu such a paper an important uphere of useful effort.
The time has come, when the actual administration of the
Government upon Republican principles will explode th
misrepresentations which have made those principles so
distasteful to the South. Rut it is not only here, and in
this virinitv, that the projectors of the .Xutwtuil .VyjwAiVd
hope to nnVe it useful. To the whol country they offer a
ournal which will His mks national politics from a national
standiioint, and which will never be swerved from patriot in
duty by uuy overpowering pressure of local interest.
