The oreaent critical state of European affairs will
render these publication! unusually interesting dnring the
forthcoming year. They will occupy a middle ground be
tweeu the hastily written news items, crude speculations,
and Hying rumors of the daily journal, and the ponderous

shall have passed away. It is to these Periodicals that

NATIONAL REPUBLICAN.
Wasiiinotox, D. C, July 1, 1801.
M,a itnitorainnKit commenced, in the month of Decern
ber last, the publication, in this city, of a weekly newspa
per, called the A'ational Jif publican.
It ia printed on a large sheet, twenty-seven by forty-two
inches, and ia furnished at the low prices stated below.
It will contain all tne original maiicr oi iuouhut iu.t
al Republican, with the exception of local news not inter
esting to country siibiciibers. It will give full reports of
the proceedings of Coagrcss, and of theotherdcpartnicnts
of the national Government. It will contain all the news
of the day, foreign and domestic, markets, etc., as well
as original correspondence from all parts of the country.
The miscellaneous department will receive special attention
and, in all respects, the effort will be made to establish the
character of the Actional AVinMi'cum aa a Family Newspa
per. Washington being now the central point of the cur
rent military operations, groat attention will be paid to
n.i.in. i. rautnra of the Actional RinMican with full.
and especially with accHrate, accounts of the progress of
the war for the Union. , ,
In politics, the paper will be Ropulilican, sustaining the
Administration of Mr. Lincoln, but disclaiming, however,
any pretention to be the organ of the President. There is
no' Republican paper in the District of Columbia, orin the
vicinity ot it, and it is believed that recent events have
opened to such a paper an important sphere of useful effort.
The time has come, when the actual administration of the
Government upon Republican principles will explode the
misrepresentations which have made those principles so
distasteful to the South. But it ia not only here, and in
this vicinity, that the projectors of tho A'ational Republican
hope to maVe it useful. To the whole country they offer a
journal which will discuss national politics from a national
standpoint, and which will never be swerved from patriotic
duty by any overpowering pressure of local interest.

FOREST WINE BITTERS.
The Greatest Remedg of the Age,
FOR THE CURK OF
Dyspepsia,
Liver Complaint,
Weakness of Stomach,
Or any Derangement of the Digestive Organs.
THEY regulate and prepare the stomach to receive and
digest food iu a healthy manner, giving action to the
Liver, bv removinir the secreted bile, allowing the body its
natural strength. " It is very essential for persons of
every sge and condition in life, to be careful and keep their
Digestive Organs in good order. l!y doing this, they will
be proof against any, or all, of the prevailing diseases, in
cident to the different climates, no matter whut the tem
perature of the same." These Hitters sre sure to do this in
every case, if taken according to directions.
There are thousands of small arteries and arenves in the
human frame, loading to and depending upon, tho gastric
juices produced by the stomach for the support of the en
tire DOIiy. II tne aiumarn is uistrsstti, siirvir n cnmiui uii

out the whole system, lint if the stomach is kept in order,
the created saliva goes to enrich the blood, giving a natural
freshness to the countenance, and strengthening the whole
frame.
We desire any and every person using the Hitters to
show them to and ask the opinion of their conrtdential

patient to rest with composure. They are a very rich and
nutritive wine, formed by the addition of nine different
kinds of roots, baik and herbs, making a very palatable as

There has never been sny article introduced that has gained

The medical properties of Ssrsaparilla in conjunction
with Stillingia are well known by all medical men te to
the best compound yet discovered to cleanse and purify
the blood, and eradicate all humors from the system.
We have given the recipe to most physicians ia ths
country, that they may know what they are using ; and,
will continue to send it by mail to those desirous of know

may prescribe it in their practice.
Thia preparation stsnds at the head ot the list of rem

Thonsands who hare used the Siillingia snd Sarsaparilla,
will testify to its remarkable effect in removing all impuri

human frame, and restoring a healthy action to all the
functions of the body.
The testimonials received in its favor from snaey mem

It is prepared ander the supervision of one of the oldest

Merrill, Cincinnati,) so as to insure an uniformity of com.

As a spring remedy, to purify and cleans the blood, leav
