EUGENE CITY, SATURDAY, FEB. 1, 1862.
"The Struggle of to-day is not altogether for
to-day. it is for the vast future also."
A CAM. TO THE l'MO MEN OF
CO I' .NT V.
Union men of Lnnc county, the time lias come for action,
nud your Juno ejection is but a few months distant. No
definite plan bus yet been made public by which friends of
the Union, whether Democrats or Republicans, ure eertnin
of concert of ucton. Vital interests are ut stake. The true
issue is Union, w ith all its blessings of peace, of law, of
order; or dittmlon, with its anarchy, its Outrage and its
blood.
We appeal to every loyal citizen: la aside your old
jealousies, and come up to the precinct election of the dele
gates to the county Convention like brothers, bet us bear
the voice of the people.
To Republicans we nay, let your nets of devotion toyonr
country not bo surpassed by mere empty Hounding words.
Come up like the ti ne L'niun men that you ure, to the res
uo.
To Democrats we say, show Unit the inannnimity with
wbieli you have come to the aid of the Administration, the
Constitution utid the OoviTumetit, is still as noble in its
constancy as in its manauiiuit v.

severest winter which has been experienced in
this locality since the settlement of the country.
j On the first day of January, the ground
covered with a thin coat of snow, which in three

eight inches, and so remained till about the 2 1st,
when it cinmensed melting, and disappeared on
