preme court of tho Distriut of Columbia,
which shall have- general jurisdiction in
law nod equity. It hhnll consist of (our
justices, otic of hom shall bo denominat
ed at chief innlico. These justices shall
be appointed by the President, by and
with tho advico and content of the Senate,
and iliall, hold their ofiicce during good
behavior. Kach justice, before ho outers
upon the duties of his office, shall take the
oath prescribed to be tnken by judges of
mo conns oi mo I iiitra Mates. Anv
