Indian War Claims.
THE Commission appoiuted to examine and re
port npou Ihe expenses Incurred in the sup
pression of hostilities iu the late Indian war in Or
egon and Washington by ths Territorial Govern
ments of said Territories, hereby give notice that
hereafter the board will concentrate Its work at
Vancouver, W. T., where nil applications and
c mmtiuications touching iu official duties may
be made.
The labors of the Commiasion, under the law
and the order organizing the board, are devoted to
ascertaining and reporting the expemei necessarily
incurred by the tieo Tnritorie in tuppratitig
Indian hotliUtitt. Spoliation claims and claims
for the loss of property during tho war, not actually
in the publio aervice, cannot bu entertained or
passed upon. Claims of this kind can only be
acted upon uuder further legislation of Congress.
Persons having claims yet unadjusted with the
respective 1'erritorial authorities should ses to it
thut such claims be recognized by thu proper de
tainments of the late volunteer service, and pre
sented through them to the commission.
Hoping to make a final report to the Secretary
of War early in Ihe ooining aulumn, it is urged by
