Rheumatism
Rheumatic pains are the cries of protest
aad distress from tortured muscles, aching
joints and excited nerves. The blood has
been poisoned by the accumulation of
waste matter In the system, and can no
longer supply the pure and health sustain
Ing food they require. The whole system
feels the effect of this acid poison ; and
mot until the blood has beea purified and
brought back to a health condition will
the aches and pains cease.

The most Important result of the ex

the government laud of private fences
work that requires courage of a high
order, for the annual sucrlflce of lives
In the West's great range light is esti
mated at 500 victims, and death by as
sassination Is the common lot of those
who dnre oppose ono faction or an
other. Col. Mosby, whose headquarters aro
at Sterling, Col., the center of a grcnt
cattle country, declares that some of
the cattle kings have fenced In mid
appropriated to their own use tracts of
land larger than many Merman princi
palities. In dctlnuce of the law, they
have seized upon government land,
fenced It lu, forbidden settlers to touch
It, and havo made themselves wealthy
from this Illegal use of Uncle Sam's
property.
How Public I.uml In Tukeil.
Near Sterling one big cattle company
built a fence which shut off nearly 23,
000 acres. It did not completely Inclose
the laud, but extended a line from tho
Union Pacific to the Burlington Hall
road fences, thus forming a vast trliin-
gle. In this space thousands of head
of cattle were kept only a few cow
boys being required to look after the
Immense herd.
When Col. Mosby ordered the com
pany to take down the fence, the objec
tion was raised that there had !cen 110
violation of the law because only one
sldu of a triangle hnd been Inclosed.
Despite the fact that the Illegal fenc
ing law has been practically a dead
letter for twenty years, ,ol. Mosby Is
Insistent In enforcing It, and he has
stirred up the cattle owners from the
Ulo (irnude to tho Canadian Hue. Tho
authorities at Washington are stand
ing by htm lu his work, however, In
view of the steady encroachments of
cattle Interests 011 public laud In the
last few years.
It Is estimated that In (he Alliance.
Neb., districts alone there are (1,1-10,200
neres of government land fenced In.
This land Is worth nearly $10,000,000,
aud on It the cattlemen hare nearly
400,000 head of cuttle.
There have been many mysterious
disappearances of settlers lu the cuttle
country In reccut yeurs. uud tirders
are of common occurrence. Whole
tloeks of sheep have been destroyed,
ranch houses have becu burned, and
other handiwork of the feudist has
been everywhere In evidence.
The war of tho cuttle and sheen In-
teres is of the West bus been a matter
of history for several yeurs and bloody
history at thut. The cattlemen com.
plain that a flock of sheep will mill n
grazing country by trampling the
ground so thut th gruss will not grow
again. They have fought the sheep men
lu the courts, aud have been beaten,
and now the favorite method of war
fare Is to get a company of cowboys
and make u raid 011 u loue sheep herder,
who may be tending several thousand
sheep.
The herder when he sees a company
of masked men ride into his Hock,
shouting the animals right and left,
knows thai If he iiitemplN to Interfere
IiIh life will be the forfeit. He can do
iiuiiiiiik nm Ninnii, iiy unit see ntiuireI
of his sheep killed or maimed, and
Dually takes the remnant or his flock
nnd hurries to another and safer part
of the country, while .the cattlemen
enjoy possession or tuu range until
some other herder venture 011 the for
bidden ground.
This vendetta of the range seems to
grow more bitter us the urea of crim
ing laud Is cut down, ICach new home
stead means so much less profit lu the
pockets of the cattle owner, and in con
sequence it feud Is declared that makes
a Corslcuti affair seem tunic In compar
ison. Colonel Mosby's determined stand
ngulnst the fencing In of public lands
will do much to simplify matters, If
tho example of the famous Confederate
leader Is followed by other United
Ktutes olliclals. The next step will be to
bring peace between the three con
dieting Interests of the range country
tho cattle owners, the sheep men uud
the small ranchers.
Until some sort of a truce Is brought
about, the yearly record of violent
