Tenacity of Purpoae Brings Success. In scarcely anything do we need wis dom mora than In the matter of Influ encing tho naturo of our children's ac tivity. Indeed, with children who are nblo and clever, advice nud lunuence must bo Indirect rather than personal. Put opportunities in their way and then leave them to themselves. In order to test their talent and develop their pow er of- persistency It Is well to Interpose slight obstacles In their path once In n while. Tenacity of purposo Is the bed rock of success In any career, and we want to find out If our child has It If ho returns again and again to a thing from which he has been dis tracted, and patiently conquers diffi culties, we may bo sure that bo Is made of tho right stuff. It augurs well for the destiny of a child If he dries his tears after & mishap and sets to work to repair the disaster, When he grows up and froutshe greater failures of life he will not be one of those who Is continually calltug out upon bis "bad luck." Instead of attempting to mend It Woman's Homo Companion. A father was growling to his son nbout a love uffalr. "It's my heart," the sou said; "I reckon I have a right to do what I please with It."
