Bids to be Advertised for Survey of the Qnlnalt Reserve. Olmypi.i, Wash., Aug. 1. Sir.'ey or General Kingsbuiy has received instructions from Commissioner Ringer Hermann, at Washington, I). C, to advertise for bids for tho sur vey of tho Quinalt reservation in Che linlis county. The reservaiton, when surveyed, will bo about 10 townships, or between 225,400 and 250,000 acres, which is to bo .thrown open for settle ment, presumably in homesteads, after tho survey is completed and ap proved. For several years various people lmvo been working by petition with the federal government to lmvo tho reservation thrown open, but tho order for its survey comes somowhat ns a surprise, it not being expected so soon. On this reserve theroaro about 200 Indians, and each one 'of theso will bo allotcd 80 acres for a home stead. All the rest will bo opon for settlement through tho United States land olllco at Olympia. It will, in all probability, take sov cral yean for tho completion of tho purvey and its approval by tho United States general land olllco at Washing ton, Rids will bo advertised for at onco, and let during tho month of August, after which, according to Survoj or General Kingsbury's inten tion, work will bo rushed so that as much as possible will bo finished this summer.
